Classroom Projects - Tackling Tough Issues
Malachi has a very unique approach to helping children tackle difficult issues that
they may be facing as they grow up. One of these approaches is to engage with children
in a school environment where they feel comfortable and in large groups (classrooms)
so that no one feels as if they are being singled out. These group based sessions
come in the form of projects, each one tackling a difficult subject topic. Click
on the projects link to find out more.
1 to 1 Family Support
Either through outcomes of the school based projects or from a direct contact Malachi
Community Trust then arranges 1 to 1 family support for those who need it. A brief
summary of how that works is given below. For more information
- Any interested School/Cluster/Children’s centre will contact Malachi Community Trust.
- Malachi Community Trust will then arrange for someone to come to your school to
talk to the relevant people.
- We will discuss the need for the school to determine the amount of service required.
- The school will decide the children/families that they would like to be supported.
- The school will send out consent forms for the parents / carers to sign to allow
us to work with their children. (Malachi Community Trust can supply these)
- Malachi Community Trust will formulate an assessment and an action plan for the
family involving other agencies as appropriate.
- Malachi Community Trust will begin one to one sessions with the family.
- Malachi Community Trust will review each case at regular intervals.
- Malachi Commuity Trust will feedback to relevant school staff (without breaching
confidentiality).
- Malachi Community Trust provide an annual report to each service user to demonstrate
how many families we have reached, reasons for referral, issues behind referral,
measurable improvements in attendance and attainment, and case studies.
