Projects

Below is a brief overview of what happens when we engage kids with the projects that we offer.

  1. The school makes contact with the Malachi Community Trust Projects and Events Team.
  2. A member of the project team will visit the school to discuss which project would be most suitable for the year group chosen.
  3. A member of the project team and a family support worker will attend for one half day per week for the duration of a term to deliver the project.
  4. The project will explore various issues such as family breakdown, bullying, drugs etc.
  5. The project will culminate in a musical performance which is performed for the rest of the school and parents and friends.
  6. Malachi Theatre Services will support the performance with a professional stage and lighting and sound rig. If you would like more info on Malachi Theatre Services please contact Mark Hetherington 07973 397322.
  7. The performance is issue based and aims to reach parents on an emotional level. Family support workers are in attendance at performances to discuss any issues raised with audience members.

A Typical Lesson

During the length of the project there will be a series of lessons focusing on the individual projects. A typical lesson would usually consist of:

  1. Learn a song.
  2. Read a chapter of the story.
  3. Discuss the issues raised in the story/song.
  4. Explore with the children any issue which have been raised through the discussion.
  5. Do some follow up work on the relevant theme of the session ie stealing.
  6. Rehearse some of the drama.
