Malachi Parenting Programme

Owning the future by understanding the past

What is the Malachi Parenting Programme?

Our experience of childhood has a great bearing on how we in turn parent our own children. For some families a cycle of negative experiences becomes entrenched. Helping parents to understand and address this key truth is at the heart of the Malachi Parenting Programme which is called Inspiring Futures.

The outcomes for parents are:

  • Improved family relationships and stability
  • Better understanding of how to provide for their children’s needs
  • Higher levels of engagement with agencies and school
  • Higher self-esteem
  • Setting and working towards goals

How will it help my school?

The outcomes for parents have a direct impact on school life, resulting in:

  • Better attendance
  • Less classroom disruption
  • Improved parental engagement with the school

What’s involved?

It is a 12 week programme for up to 12 parents. The group meets weekly and is guided by a trained professional to explore how they themselves were parented and how this may have led to issues around bonding and attachment. This allows them to understand how they can break the cycle with their own children.

The parents are from similar backgrounds and the group format allows them to share experiences and support each other on their journey.

When can we start?

Most of our parents have been identified through our Early intervention Projects and Family Support programmes. Call us on 0121 441 4556 or email to find out how we can help in your school.
